“ I've come here several times - many, to eat the delicious almond croissants and the renowned crepe cake, and once - to have happy hour with some friends. All of my occasions have been well worth it. The almond croissant here is one of my favorites in the twin cities. I love how buttery and flaky it is - everything you want in a pastry. There's a good amount of almond paste inside and it's sweetened just to my liking. Perfect in every way! The crepe cake is on another level. I haven't tried anything like it but it's everything I want and more..can't help but drool when I think about it! I think it's time I make another trip over there. The layers are thin but there's lots of them and the sweetness is just right. The happy hour food is delicious too! We got the duck confit wings, fries, pommes Dauphine (divine!) And dirty french burger. Everything was do good! A place that masters both main courses and dessert is a win in my book. ”
“ I came here to get bakery items as I heard they are the best here. It's such a cute restaurant and bakery when you walk in. I can't wait to come back and try the food. I went in and got a raspberry maacroon and vanilla one as well, I also got the almond croissant. The macaroons were so fresh tasting and also huge! The raspberry one was my favorite, it had homemade raspberry jam inside and also buttercream. So fresh and tasty. The vanilla one was great as well The almond croissant was also amazing, it tastes so buttery and fresh. The taste is so unique and good. I can't wait to go and try the other crossiants. ”
“ Despite the rave reviews for this place, we waited quite a while to make our way over to "downtown" Wayzata to give them a try snagging a reservation on a holiday weekend when the cabin people were all up north. I certainly had high expectations walking in given the reputation and buzz. Maybe I was expecting something a bit more formal and was taken aback a bit by the 3 high school kids (? Looked middle school to me-I must be getting old) staffing the check in counter. I'm happy to see enterprising youth at work and one certainly wouldn't think twice seeing them at a Perkins but they caught me by surprise here. They seated us efficiently at a small table sandwiches between a couple of larger corner booths. Our server, Hermès was friendly and helpful in taking orders but again not quite the level of service I was expecting based on reputation. Courses were very slow with rather long waits despite the place being only about 2/3 full for most of our visit. The exception was dessert which arrived in like two minutes after ordering. Service-wise 2-3 stars only. Food-wise however, they've got it figured out with high-quality ingredients and beautiful presentations. The shrimp cocktail has 6 big meaty pawns perched on crushed ice and accompanied by not only a traditional sauce but also a lemony cream sauce. Unfortunately it took over 20-minutes to arrive (almost a full glass of wine) but was worth the wait. The entrees were equally delicious (and tardy). My halibut over a seasonal rattotouie was perfectly cooked with an explosion of tastes and my wife's hanger steak and extra crispy frites were wonderful too. The hazelnut profiteroles were the perfect touch of sweetness to share to conclude the dining experience. Of course the hot fresh French bread was the absolute star of the meal-so good! Benefit of the doubt on the service -maybe the "a-team" were up at the cabin too. Delicious food won me over. ”
“ It was a business dinner in their private room that brought me to Bellecour. A French neighborhood restaurant located across the street from the lake. From what I was told, this restaurant is motivated to serve classic French cooking similar to the great chefs of France. This is a very elaborate decorated restaurant that has an elegant appeal without any pretention tone whatsoever. They have a local pastry chef that charms the front of the restaurant which is quite petit. The rest of the restaurant overall space is separated by four other rooms; a small elegant small bar area, a dining room located by the bar area and one dining area adjacent to the other. They also have a patio area along with a chef's table overlooking the open view kitchen. It's difficult to point out what I enjoyed the most about our dinner experience since it was a tasting menu. Only that the restaurant is quite exquisite and my business friends from Minnesota were fabulous hosts. ”
“ It's hard to write a yelp review for a Place with such a prestigious chef and culinary team. This is one of Gavin Kaysen's places and it reflects the quality and care he puts into his food. We celebrated a birthday with a weeknight reservation for four. Valet is especially helpful when the weather is brutal but we got in and we're shown to our table. We ordered appetizers and drinks and they have a great selection of French wines by the glass or bottle and a full bar with some specialty drinks. Their bread and pastries could have their own but that is for another time. We were feeling adventurous so we ordered four entrees and decided to share. Each had its own unique presentation and the flavors exploded off the plate. I highly recommend the cod presented with an Asian fusion twist, the schnitzel which was my favorite dish, the duck and the short rib. They will have nightly specials like the 30 oz cut of beef bone in but I guarantee the food will be delicious. We sampled three of their desert items as well and had coffees to end our time. It was a great birthday, anniversary or special meal destination. ”
“ These folks with the three stars must not be ordering right. Yep, I said it, you failed. This place is money. I've been trying to get here for months, anytime I made a reservation my husband then had to go out of town. We live super far away on the east side, so dropping by solo on a random night wasn't going to happen. Also, bringing a plus one allows me to order more dishes, I'm greedy. We finally made it, but to brunch, dinner reservations on a weekend are booked pretty far out. The space is beautiful as expected, and rich. Looking around I found myself really wishing I had won the lottery ticket I bought 5 weeks ago. We ordered a cup of the French onion soup, I'm a sucker for this soup. This one is in my top three. It smelled kinda funky when it was placed in front of us, I was worried, but it was phenomenal. For mains, the quiche and dirty French burger, and crepe cake for dessert. This quiche was awesome, it was so unexpected with a custard consistency. It was crispy on top, but moist throughout. The bitter greens were a great side, a very refreshing dish. The burger is my new favorite of all time. My first bite I had juice dripping down my chin and fingers. Oh my GOD. The flavor of this bite was decadent, salty, crisp from the lettuce, silky cheese, and a soft but hearty bun. No others will be able to compare after this. This came with fries, which were good, we had ketchup and some sort of ranch that we both devoured. By the time we finished these dishes my husband said we may need to take the crepe cake home since we were so full. When it was set down in front of us he looked at me and said, "I think we could finish this here." It was amazing. Not too sweet, and perfect with a bite of fruit. I want crepe cake dessert everyday. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in. The host was friendly and ready for us, same with our server. The staff all worked together to keep water and coffee flowing, and dishes were served hot. I've already got two more trips planned for my return. ”
“ This may be one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The 1.5 month reservation for a Saturday night dinner was well worth it We arrived and started the celebration of promotions and completing the GMAT with some drinks at the bar. As we wait to be seated, the host of the restaurant came up to us and said there may be a slight delay with our tables. This was fine as there was at least transparency. 30 minutes later and we were finally seated. The host offered a bottle of champagne due to the delay and already we saw the high level of service and desire to ensure every customer was satisfied Menu is delicate with its French-named dishes signaling an enigma that awaits your palate Ordered - Oysters (5/5). Wow. Speechless as this may have been the freshest oysters I've had. It is chilled with ice to keep the texture and meat in tact. One of my favorites and this is the only the appetizer - Canard A L'Orange (4.5/5). Excellent. One of the best roasted duck breast I've had. The meat was succulent, colorful, and soaked with a wine-y / red sauce. Beautifully crafted, too. The leg was delicious too and my friend's favorite part - Vacherin (3/5). Apple confit. It was pretty good, though I am not a big sweets person so I couldn't tell and am a bit more indifferent - Macaroon Cake (4/5). Surprise cake to celebrate my promotion. Tasty but again a little sweet for my tasting - Red Wine (5/5) - wished I remembered the name as my friend ordered it One thing I noticed is not only the good vibes and food but how friendly and personable the staff is at Bellecour. Everyone is so respectful and accommodating. Service is indeed a core value here. In addition, the ambiance felt relaxed despite it being on more of the high-end. People were not snobby or displayed hubris. It is just a place to grab very authentic and delicious French cuisine Overall, I give this place 5 stars and look forward to visiting this restaurant in the quiet Wayzata again ”
“ So this is my review update. I had previously given 3 stars and I've been at Bellecour 4 times since and now I'm switching it to 5. Service has significantly improved and it was very pleasant experience for me. I have intentionally ordered different meals than before and they are very good. - SALADE D'ENDIVES: is so very good with its blue cheese, poached pears and pecans. Highly recommend. - Braised short ribs: very tender, delicious. Perfect for entree. - Poulet roti: I never eat chicken when I eat out. But this time, I really wanted to try. Best decision. Was very soft, have no idea how they seasoned it to taste so well. - Raspberry mouse: very light, tingly hint of sorbet. very delightful. - chocolate pistachio torte: it has every ingredient that I like. However, this was a bit too rich. Still tastes good. Best paired with a cup of coffee. Instead of getting their new mixed drinks, I got some old fashioned. Not the best I had, but quite good. Last few times I sat outside in their beautiful, intimate, well lit patio. It is very romantic in set up. It is also quieter outside if you'd like to comfortably converse with your company. You eat the best food and mosquito gets to eat you, circle of life. Perfect patio. ”
“ The interior had a quiet elegance. Service was top notch. Water glasses were promptly refilled. Someone checked on each course to verify our satisfaction. Our meal began with warm, deeply crusted bread, and butter. Our initial dish was the endive salad. With poached pears, pecans, and blue cheese in a red wine vinaigrette. The ingredients melded harmoniously yielding a great start to the meal. We shared duck a l'orange and the short ribs. The duck skin was crisp, the meat tender, and it appeared to be over a cabbage in an orange sauce. This was a nice take on a French classic. The short ribs were very tender, with a well developed flavor, and accompanied by mushroom duxeles. The mushrooms had some vinegar snap surprisingly. But the combination worked, and paired with our pinot noirs. Desert was a macaroon ice cream sandwich , that put just the right exclamation point on the meal. ”
“ French food at it's finest! This is the best restaurant in Wayzata and one of the best French restaurants I've been to. The cuisine is top notch! Food items we ordered and loved: 1. Escargot - it was made with basil which was a unique twist and came with bread to dip in the oil. Very tasty. 2. Lobster Salad - this was made with avocados and some citrus fruits. Loved the combination of all the flavors. 3. Cauliflower - this had some Indian spices which made it really unique. 4. Veal T-Bone Entree - tender, juicy, well marbled, hearty and everything we hoped for. 5. Macaroon - we got a large complimentary macaroon since we were celebrating my husband's birthday. It was the perfect dessert. 6. Cecillon Syrah Wine - this was recommended to drink with the veal and we really liked it. This was the perfect dining experience and one of my new favorite restaurants. The food, service, and ambiance were amazing and great for special occasions. Definitely worth the splurge! ”
